Freak, supone el comienzo de una búsqueda estética que seguramente todavía no ha acabo. Este disco fue grabado en 1999, con una formación de músicos de jazz locales con los que Manolo Rodríguez buscaba experimentar o investigar en las formas clásicas del jazz como punto de partida. Se dejan notar las claras influencias de Pat Metheny, Bill frisell o Kenny Wheeler, queriendo simpre plasmar lo que de él había, tanto en sus composiciones como en la visión de su instrumento, la guitarra. Este disco fue editado por Hesperides Producciones que acabo vendiendo, sin ningún aviso al autor, productor ejecutivo o interpretes, a plataformas digitales donde lo pueden comprar (espero que no) o escuchar gratuitamente. Un comienzo de carrera en toda regla.

Freak is the beginning of an aesthetic quest that is probably not over yet. This album was recorded in 1999, with a group of local jazz musicians with whom Manolo Rodríguez looked to experiment or investigate the classical forms of jazz as a starting point. The clear influences of Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell or Kenny Wheeler are clearly noticeable, always wanting to capture what he had, both in his compositions and in the vision of his instrument, the guitar. This album was released by Hesperides Producciones who ended up selling it, without any warning to the author or performers, to digital platforms where you can buy it (I hope not) or listen to it for free. A career start in every sense of the word.
